Workshops 2019


In her workshops, Yatzín shares her wide experience of different circus arts and techniques to inspire creativity and motivate the participants to keep practicing and improving their acrobatic skills on their own afterwards. 

 

The following workshops can be booked individually or in various combinations as a weekend package. Workshops can take place all over Europe and worldwide. 

 

If you are looking for a specific content that is not covered below, please don't hesitate to ask. The following is just an excerpt of Yatzíns repertoire.

All workshops can be adapted to best suit your needs.

Pole



- Pole Flow A, B, C. (90 min) -

 

 

Did you recently started doing Pole and already fell in love?
Sometimes when we start we feel that it will take long time until we can make something look good...

 

But it is not like that! There are also moves for beginners which, with the right guidance, will look beautiful even if we are just starting!

This workshop is designed to guide you into beautiful moves with the Pole and to learn how to connect them together.
All the moves will be basics, you will learn how to make them look to the 100%
You’ll be surprised how beautiful those easy tricks will look at the end!

 

Level: Beginner

 

* For this workshop, it is recommended to wear socks and knee pads.



- Spinning Flow (90 min) -

 

This workshop will provide the students with a sequence on the spinning pole,

breaking it into moves and poses and how to combine them.

Tips to keep the spin and how to control it.

Flexibility and strength will be beautifully combined to create an effortless looking combination

with the grace that the spinning pole provides.

Level: Beginner & Intermediate.

 



- Floor Work (Choreography) (90 min) -

 

 

In this Workshops you wil learn a variety of moves on the floor, rolls, balances, rolls, kicks, transitions and figures, which combined will create a little choreo.

 

Very useful to fill those “in-between the pole” moments in routines, or just for the joy of dancing!

 

Level: Open Level.

* For this workshop it is recommended to wear leggings, socks & knee pads.

** If requested, it can also be designed in an exotic dance style with heels.

 



- Pole flow (Choreo) (90 min) -

 

 

This workshop is designed to guide you into beautiful moves on-and-off the Pole and to learn how to connect them together in a Contemporary/Lyrical dance style.

Spins, Transitions and figures will be combined to create a choreo which you can use to make your pole repertoire grow.

 

Level: Intermediate & up.

 



- Twisty Tricks. (120 min)* -

 

 

Have you ever seen a picture of a Pole move which is extremely beautiful but you have no idea how did the dancer got into that shape?
Have you been working on your Flexibility lately and would like to discover
which new moves you can do with it?
Are you simply curious about trying new shapes on the Pole
and take your flexibility to the next level?

Then this workshop is for you, you will be amazed by the many possibilities of your amazing body!

 

Level requirements:

Inverted V

Outside & Inside Leg Hang

Back bridge on the floor

Splits in a min of 150 degrees.

 

* This workshop is designed for 120 mins because for the nature of the content, it will be necesary to provide a longer warmup with stretching exercises.



- Climb it up, Drop it down (90 min) -

 

 

In this workshop we will work on diferent ways to climb up the pole and fast and controled variations to go down. It is perfect to give a wider variety to pole routines and choreograpies.

 

Level: Intermediate & Advanced.

 

 



- Pole Planks (90 min) -

 

 

This workshop is all about planks. Conditioning exercises to get the stretnght which is needed to achieve all those beautiful flat lines up in the air and diferent variation of moves acording to the level of each student. Also tips to hold them longer and the right technique to prevente injuries in the practice.

 

Level: Intermediate & Advanced.

 

 



Yatzin Kosom Pole Fitness Meathook

- Static Pole Combos (90 mins) -

 

 

In this workshop you will learn mounts, dismounts, moves and tricks that enable you to create beautiful and dynamic routines on the static pole.

 

This workshop can be adapted to the needs and level of the participants starting with simple inversions and easy and beautiful combinations up to advanced moves like handsprings, phoenix, russian splits etc.

 

All moves will be broken down into their individual components to help you understand the structure behind them. This enables you to keep practicing and perfecting them by yourself after the workshop.

 

--> Suitable for all levels, but general difficulty of the moves should be agreed in advance. (e.g. beginner workshop, intermediate, advanced etc.)



Yatzin Kosom Pole Workshop Deadlift

- Spinning Pole Combos (90 mins) -

 

 

In this workshop you will learn beautiful tricks and combinations on the spinning pole. You will learn how to control the the momentum of the spin and how to use it to create a mesmerising and dynamic performance.

 

All moves will be broken down into their individual components to help you understand the structure behind them. This enables you to keep practicing and perfecting them by yourself after the workshop. 

 

Level: Intermediate & Advanced.



Yatzin Kosom Pole Acrobatics Fitness Cologne

- Pole Splits (90 mins) -

 

 

This is a workshop designed to improve leg flexibility skills on the pole in a safe and effective way.

 

It will enable you to enhance your routines with moves and poses involving splits such as "Jade" or "Russian Split" and prepare you for even more advanced moves like the "Spatchcock".

 

Level: Open Level.

 

--> General flexibility on legs will be helpful in order to fully benefit from this workshop. But don't be afraid if your splits are not perfect yet, Yatzín will help you to understand the concept behind the moves so you can keep practicing to reach your goals quickly and safely.



Yatzin Kosom Pole Backbend Flexibility Workshop

- Pole Backbends (120min) -

 

This is a workshop designed to improve back flexibility skills on the pole in a safe and effective way.

 

It will enable you to enhance your routines with moves and poses involving backbends such as the "Allegra", "Yogini", "Dove", "Cocoon", "Crescent Moon", "Closed Inside Leg Hang", "Eagle" and the famous "Rainbow Marchenko".

 

--> A firm backbend on the floor and good flexibility on legs will be helpful to fully benefit from this workshop. But even if your back isn't totally ready for any of these moves, Yatzin will help you to understand and take the safe way towards them. You will leave with the necessary know-how about practice methods to reach your goals quickly and safely.


Aerial Hoop / Lyra



Yatzin Kosom Silks Tissue Workshop

- Keep Rolling Rolling Rolling… (90 min) -

 

 

Rolls, Rolls, and more rolls… This Workshops is all about rolls.

 

Lion Rolls, Elbow Rolls, Drop Rolls, Transition Rolls, Climb Rolls…

 

 

 

You will learn the right technique to achieve many different rolls

 

and make your hoop repertoire grow with all this beautiful moves.

 

 

 

Level: Intermediate & up.

 

 



Yatzin Kosom Aerial Hoop Lyra Workshop

- Aerial Hoop Splits (120 min*) -

 

 

In this Workshops you will learn the most beautiful and unusual aerial splits.

 

This Workshop will also include stretching exercises on the floor to improve your flexibility and tips and tricks to make them look to the 100% up in the air.

 

Level: Intermediate / Other requirements: Splits in a minimum of 150 degrees.

 

* For this workshop is important to provide a longer warm-up including stretching exercises on the floor, and that is the reason it is longer than the other hoop workshops.

 

 



- Hoop Combos (90 min) -

 

Have you ever been trying to find out how to make your way in or out of a figure in a controlled and beautiful way?
Maybe you have many figures in your “repertoire” but you just don’t know how to connect them?...

So this workshop is made specifically for you!

In this workshop you will learn a whole routine. Transitions and connections between the figures is what Yat will teach you and at the end you will have a whole new selection of moves to connect figures and also tips to make your lines and transition to look elegant and graceful.

Level: This workshop can be designed for Beginner Level, for Intermediate Level or also for Advanced Level, depending on the needs of each Studio.


Flexibility & Contortion


Yatzin Kosom Contortion Flexibility Teacher Workshop Cologne

Back Flexibility (90 / 120 mins workshop)

 

 

Yatzín will provide you with the correct technique to work on your back flexibility in a safe and effective way. The class will cover backbends, bridges, and in the long version of the workshop -120min- basic equilibrist techniques (e.g. elbow stand, handstand) and more.

 

In this workshop you will learn stretching exercises to keep your body healthy and in a good balance. It will give you the basis for a continuous flexibility training that can prevent injuries and enhance your artistic and acrobatic skills, either for contortion as an art form by itself or as a complement to dance, pole and aerial arts.

 

The spine and shoulders are delicate and very important in the any form of acrobatics as well as everyday life. That is why the way we work on the flexibility in those areas is also especially delicate and important.

 

Yatzín's technique is targeted towards the needs of the adult body and combines different proven flexibility methods from the circus world and gymnastics with elements from Yoga to help the body to relax into the new positions instead of forcing it.

 

With time, practice and patience, you will increase your flexibility to get into all those beautiful moves that require special upper body flexibility, such as "Cocoon", the "Eagle" and the extraordinary "Rainbow Marchenko".  

 

No matter if you can not even make a bridge or you are already a human pretzel, this workshop will help you reach your next level.

 

--> There are no special requirements for this workshop, all levels are welcome here. Beginners and advanced students will take the same class and work on the moves with a different intensity.


Yatzin Kosom splits flexibility workshop

Spreadies / Leg Flexibility (90 / 120 min workshop)

 

 

Yatzín will provide you with the correct technique to work on your leg flexibility in a safe and effective way. The class will cover front splits & side splits/straddles.

 

In this workshop you will learn stretching exercises to keep your body healthy and in a good balance. It will give you the basis for a continuous flexibility training that can prevent injuries and enhance your artistic and acrobatic skills, either for contortion as an art form by itself or as a complement to dance, pole and aerial arts. 

 

Front splits, straddles, aerial splits... All of them make our acrobatic moves look more elegant and beautiful, but it is very important to have the right technique to work on the flexibility of legs and hips to increase our splits and range of movement in a safe way.

 

Yatzín's technique is targeted towards the needs of the adult body and combines different proven flexibility methods from the circus world and gymnastics with elements from Yoga to help the body to relax into the new positions instead of forcing it.

 

With time, practice and patience, you will increase your flexibility to get into all those beautiful moves that require special leg flexibility, such as "Jade", "Russian Split" and maybe even the elusive "Spatchcock".  

 

No matter if your split is still far above the ground or you are already practicing your oversplits, this class helps you reach your next level.
